Textiles
The production of textiles was a matter of major historical importance in Ulster and the textile collections in the Ulster Folk and Transport Museum reflect this. The textile collections reflect local textile production and use. The collection of patchwork, quilted and other kinds of bedcovers is the best in the British Isles. The lace and embroidery collections are of national standing and international significance, as are the collections of samplers, damasks and household textiles.
Also important is the costume collection. A considerable photographic collection as well as oral-historical material in the Museum's sound archive provides the essential background to the collection of actual specimens of textiles.
