The Campbell House in Missouri at (External) http://stlouis.missouri.org/501c/chm shows the home that Robert Campbell built when he settled in St Louis Missouri. Pupils will find it useful to compare and contrast this house with the Campbell House here in the Folk Park.

Highly visual, and being continually expanded, this is a useful site for the teacher and pupil who wish to take the wider perspective on Emigration.
Ellis Island ( (External) http://www.ellisisland.com ) was the gateway through which more than 12 million immigrants passed between 1892 and its closure in 1954, in their search for economic opportunity and freedom of speech and religion.
The Museum of American Frontier Culture illustrates the 18th and 19th century immigration experiences of the American Frontier. A useful site to visit, it contains original buildings from Northern Ireland, England and Germany, as well as an 1860's farmstead from Botetourt County, Virginia, U.S.A. Colonial Williamsburg at (External) http://www.history.org is well worth a visit to find out about life in Virginia's capital in the immediate pre-Revolutionary era in Virginia.
Old Sturbridge Village outside Boston Massachusetts is an open-air museum depicting life in that area in the early 1830's. Find out about the life and times of these rural New England villagers from their website at (External) http://www.osv.org
Upper Canada Village, a reconstructed village of the 1860's in Canada can be found at (External) http://www.parks.on.ca/village/home

is a 19th century colonial village in North Island New Zealand, gives a view of life experienced by the early settlers there in the mid to late 19th century. There were many Irish settlers among the early New Zealand immigrants.
