Turf Bank

Turf Bank

Turf (or peat) was widely used in 18th and 19th century Ulster as a domestic fuel. The turfbank in the Folk Park illustrates the processes of turf-cutting and drying, a practice which was carried on each summer in preparation for the winter to come.
