THE MALL EAST, ARMAGH, NORTHERN IRELAND BT61 9BE, TEL +44 (0)28 3752 3070
The Museum's concern for preserving and conserving material culture, reminds us of the need not to neglect the natural world and the environment. Displays allow visitors to take a close look at a familiar birds and beasts, divided into several convenient sections.
Barn owl Mammals include badger, bats, fox, otter, hare, rabbit, rats and squirrels. There are birds of prey and birds grouped by habitat, including water birds, farmland birds and those found in woodland and garden. Other taxidermy specimens in the stores include more slightly exotic species.
Within the realm of natural sciences the displays and collections also feature sections on local geology with limestone fossils reflecting the fact that the Armagh area was once covered by a tropical sea.
