THE MALL EAST, ARMAGH, NORTHERN IRELAND BT61 9BE, TEL +44 (0)28 3752 3070
The heading 'Armachiana', used in several display cases, identifies objects and research material relating to local history, like this metal skull. It is a grim reminder of crime, punishment and the hangman's noose. The metal skull was mounted on the gallows in Armagh during the days when hangings were held in public. The Museum itself is flanked on either side by powerful symbols of justice and punishment in the form of the courthouse and old gaol.
The library holds archive material covering many aspects of local history including a unique collection of writings entitled ' Armachiana '.
