The Museum holds excavation material from many important sites throughout the county, including several megalithic burials, the tombs of Ireland's first farmers. There is a fine range of prehistoric pottery on display along with stone tools, Bronze and Iron Age metalwork. Reflecting Armagh's leading role in Early Christian Ireland, there is also a selection of artefacts representative of this period.
A list of archaeological material held by the Museum is published in the Journal of the Royal Society of Antiquities of Ireland (JRSAI) vols, 1975, 1978,1982 ( see library )
